Police: Man pulled into checkpoint with open alcoholic beverage

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – State Police say a Niagara Falls man had an open alcoholic beverage, marijuana, and 70 hydrocodone pills in his vehicle when he was stopped at a DWI checkpoint.

Troopers conducted the checkpoint Saturday night into Sunday morning on Rt. 31 in the Town of Lewiston. Officers say Benjamin Knox, Jr., 27, is facing multiple charges after he was found to have alcohol and drugs in his vehicle.

Knox was charged with fifth and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to notify the DMV of an address change.

He is due back in court later this month.
