COLDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies say a drunk driver couldn’t remember where he ran his car off the road, but knew he had hit a tree.
The sheriff’s office responded to Rt. 240 in the Town of Colden after receiving a report that Justin King had crashed his car and was attempting to walk back to Boston.
The 27-year-old man was found by deputies shortly after he was picked up by a vehicle. He allegedly told authorities he crashed his car, but couldn’t remember where his car was or where the accident happened, only that he hit a tree.
Deputies found his car on Rt. 240 at Gutekunst Road.
King was found to be intoxicated and a test reportedly revealed he had a BAC of .21 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit. He is charged with aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and other traffic violations.
King was released to a third party and his vehicle was towed from the scene. He is due back in court at a later date.
