Fans down about Bills loss

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Fans at the Ralph were all frowns as they left the stadium Sunday afternoon. After starting off the season so strong, Sunday’s loss to the San Diego Chargers was especially difficult.

“Today I’m feeling pretty bad. I’m feeling pretty low, beat down,” said fan Gary Ward.

After being on a high for the past couple weeks Bills fans were brought down after Sunday’s loss. “It’s the typical ‘You get your hopes up and then a letdown’,” said Sandy Doherty.

“Where was the offense? Where was it? It wasn’t there,” wondered Forrest Viola.

Some fans were blaming quarterback EJ Manuel for the team’s loss. “I feel like he chokes at the wrong time,” said Benjamin Fazio.

“I’ve lost faith in EJ. We got to get Orton in. We have to do something different because we have a lot of opportunities to win and we’re not closing the deals. I hate leaving the stadium like this, this sucks,” said Larry Miles.

During last week’s win over the Dolphins, players said they fed off the fans’ energy. This week, fans say it was hard to keep the energy up.

“The energy started off high but like the 3rd quarter we started deflating like we felt it was the same Bills again,” said Miles.

Bills fans say they’re used to defeat, but at least one fan News 4 talked to thought they’d be able to turn things around. “I have faith they are going to come back. They played a good team,” said Doherty.

“Yeah, you hope so, but we are the Bills so don’t hope for anything too big because you just get your hopes crushed,” said Viola.

After a number of losing seasons, fans are still optimistic about this year’s 2 – 1 start. They’re turning to the next game and hoping for a win.

“Every game is not going to be our game, but I think we should stay behind them and that’s what Buffalonians do. They support their team,” said Gary Ward.

The Bills will be heading to the Texas to take on the Texans next Sunday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
