Homeowner rescues alleged drunk driver from pond

HANOVER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies say a driver was drunk when she crashed into a shallow pond early Saturday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office was called to York Road in the Town of Sheridan where a car had crashed into a pond and was partially submerged.

The homeowner helped 24-year-old Liana Halliman to escape the vehicle. When deputies arrived, they found she was intoxicated.

Halliman was arrested and is due back in court at a later date to faces charges of DWI, aggravated DWI for having a BAC above .18 percent, and failure to keep right.
