Man accused of burglaries now facing drug charges

WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Wellsville man arrested last week on charges he broke into two businesses in the village is now facing charges related to drug sales.

Roger Raney, 57, is charged with two counts of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count each of fourth and fifth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office says on two separate occasions, Raney sold drugs to an agent of the Narcotics Unit.

Last week, Raney was arrested on charges related to burglaries at Hanover Street Laundromat and JB’s Nightclub. Deputies say he burglarized the laundromat on July 8, then later tried to break into the business on September 7. But when he was unsuccessful, he instead broke into the nightclub.

Raney is being held on a combined $40,000 bail in the Allegany County Jail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
