GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man is facing drunk driving charges in a crash on Grand Island that left another driver in critical condition.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office was called to Whitehaven Road around 12:30 a.m. when deputies say Nicholas Fachko, 25, crashed into the back of a vehicle driven by Andrew Mrzygut, 23. Both drivers are from Grand Island.
Deputies say Fachko was drunk and refused to a test to determine his BAC. He taken to the Erie County Medical Center for treatment and arrested upon his release. He is due back in court next month.
Mrzygut remains in critical condition at ECMC.
