Leaders to discuss potential closure of West Seneca school

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – School leaders in West Seneca will meet Monday night to discuss the future of Potters Road Elementary.

A volunteer group has recommended the district take a look at closing Potters Road as one way to deal with declining enrollment.

Enrollment in West Seneca Schools stood at just over 7,700 students in 2000. By last September, it had dropped by almost 1,000 students. This year enrollment fell below 6,700.

The district projects it will fall to 6,300 students or lower by 2019.

Monday’s meeting takes place at East Middle School.
