Within 30 minutes, thieves rack up thousands of dollar in charges

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Town of Tonawanda Police believe two suspects who stole credit cards during the busy lunch hour in a crowded restaurant are not from this area.

Last week, a group of people were eating in Panera Bread on Sheridan Drive when two had their wallets stolen. The pair was in and out of the restaurant in a matter of minutes and left out the back door. By the time the victims realized they had been robbed, the thieves had racked up thousands of dollars in charges.

Police say the suspects were very skillful and knew what they were doing. Within 30 minutes of the theft, they had charged more than $9,500 on the credit cards at Target and Babies R’ Us by buying gift cards.

If you recognize either suspect or have information about the thefts, call Town of Tonawanda Police at 716-879-6606.
