Fake grenade used to threaten St. Luke’s Mission

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Buffalo police responded to a call of a person with a grenade Saturday morning just after 11:30 a.m.

Ferry-Fillmore Officers were called to St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy located in the 300 block of Walden Avenue on the city’s east side.

Police say a 52 year-old woman entered St. Luke’s with a grenade in her hand and began threatening the people inside. At one point an officer disarmed her of the grenade and then took the device outside.

The Erie County Bomb Squad was called to the scene to remove the grenade from the premises. Authorities say after examining the grenade, there were no explosives.

The woman was taken to ECMC to be evaluated. No charges have been filed at this time.
