ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The agent for Bills wide receiver Mike Williams called GM Doug Whaley to request a trade, Whaley confirmed Monday.
The move comes one day after Bills head coach Doug Marrone made Williams inactive for the team’s game against New England. Marrone said that move was a football decision – and not an easy one to make.
“Really it was the three tight end package that we had. We worked on, put the work in during the week. If you had to put a percentage on what the main reason was, it was the three tight ends up, that was the main reason,” said Marrone.
“We are not seeking to trade Mike Williams,” said Whaley. “His agent asked us. And I said with anybody on the team, I want to stress, with anybody we have on this 53-man roster, if someone calls, it is our responsibility to listen to what someone offers. But we are not actively shopping anyone on this team.”
Williams did not speak to reporters in the locker room this morning, but did send a message out on twitter.
“Chill everybody I’m happy with being a buffalo bill……. I mean come on it’s my dream my agent just did what a agent supposed to do …,” Williams said on twitter.
