Buffalo Public Schools searching for permanent superintendent

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo School Board is ready to start searching for a new superintendent.

The board hired Interim Superintendent Donald Ogilvie in July with the understanding he would stay for up to two years. Ogilvie was hired weeks after he retired as district superintendent of Erie 1 BOCES.

During his years with BOCES, he worked with 19 school districts in Western New York and worked directly with the State Education Department. At the time, Buffalo school board member Jim Sampson told News 4, “[Ogilvie] has very successful experience in operating very complex organizations and he comes in, I think, with a great deal of credibility with the State Education Department, which is very very critical to how this district operates.”

The district’s executive affairs committee meets Wednesday. Members are expected to watch a consultant presentation on superintendent searches.
