Western New York students use Broadway aspirations to help others

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – News 4’s Student Spotlight is shining on the members of “Backyard Broadway.”

This group is made up of more than 20 students in grades 8 through 12 who are from about a dozen schools in Western New York.

The group’s director is 14-year-old Camryn Clune. She came up with the idea to bring together a group of students with Broadway aspirations and use their talents to raise money for children and families in need.

Backyard Broadway will perform two fundraising shows November 2 at the ATA Theatre, 5505 Main Street in Williamsville. Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Tickets are $15, with all proceeds benefiting Variety Club of Buffalo.

Doors open one hour before the performers take the stage. More than 50 auction items will also be up for bid.

Call 913-8244 or visit the group’s Facebook page to learn more.
