Local Restaurant Week returns to WNY

Local Restaurant Week runs through October 26.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hundreds of local restaurants are inviting you to “feed your curiosity” this week.

Western New York’s Local Restaurant Week has returned to offer diners another course of delicious deals from now through Sunday. Locally owned casual and fine dining eateries are offering featured dishes starting at $20.14.

“Our local independent restaurants are as much a part of the fabric of Western New York culture as any landmark or museum,” said Mike Andrzejewski, one of the event’s founders and a participating local restaurant owner. “This event encourages people to get out and get to know the rich and diverse culture of our area as only local restaurants can help them experience it.”

Local Restaurant Week started in 2009 with 60 restaurants. Participation has since tripled. The promotional event now takes place twice a year and is estimated to have an economic impact of $8 million.

The food service industry is the Buffalo-Niagara region’s second largest employer, according to the Western New York Restaurant Association.
