Bridge work closes traffic to Broderick Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A bridge over Buffalo’s Black Rock Canal will close Tuesday night and won’t be open again until 2016. The West Ferry Street Lift Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The bridge is undergoing an $8 million rehabilitation. Federal Navigational Law requires the bridge to be in the fully raised position during the rehab work, so there will be no vehicle access to Broderick Park. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
