BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A familiar sight in downtown Buffalo will soon be gone, but that’s a good sign for HARBORcenter and hockey fans. Within the next couple of days the crane that’s been part of the city skyline will come down. By the end of the month HARBORcenter will open. It features two hockey rinks, a sports bar, parking garage, and training facility. A hotel is expected to open next summer.
With crews trying to finish up the project it’s busy down at Canalside. There’s not much time left, a hockey tournament is set to get underway on Halloween.
“It’s a huge day, big day for us. I think a milestone when the cranes come down. It’s a bigger deal than when they go up. When they go up it means we’re building and we they come down it means we’ve made enormous strides in finishing this project,” said Cliff Benson the Buffalo Sabres Chief Development Officer.
