Judge grants change of venue in group home case

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The question whether the state will have to explain the placement of sex offenders in a West Seneca neighborhood will now be answered by a judge in Albany. Judge Patrick NeMoyer granted the state’s request for a change of venue.

Assemblyman Mickey Kearns filed a freedom of information request to learn why the state closed a secure facility and moved seven sex offenders to a group home. The state is fighting the release of that information, and was successful in moving the case out of Erie County.
