BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Sabres fans are already making an impression on top prospect Connor McDavid, who will hit the ice in Buffalo with his junior team Wednesday night.
McDavid’s Erie Otters will take on the Niagara IceDogs Wednesday night at 7pm at First Niagara Center. With the Sabres struggling and McDavid pegged as potentially the #1 or #2 overall pick in 2015, he says fans have been quick to link the two together.
“Whenever the Sabres lose, my twitter just kind of blows up with fans talking about me. I guess it kind of contradicts what I said about reading about myself… Yeah, it’s a little bit different,” said McDavid.
Former Sabre Jay McKee is on the coaching staff with Erie. He says McDavid is the real deal.
“Connor, I believe is a generational player. He has the potential to be as good as any player who’s ever played the game,” said McKee.
