Suspect’s arrest raises questions about reported abductions

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Police Department said it has located the white Lexus involved in recent cases where individuals attempted to lure teenagers into the vehicle.

Buffalo Police are telling parents they can breathe easier, because a man they have been looking for is now locked up. Marcus Thompson was arrested in St. Francis County, Arkansas, a small county near the border of Tennessee and Mississippi, on unrelated drug charges.The female passenger has not been located.

Sources said he is denying the allegations in Buffalo, and that his story is checking out. That means it doesn’t look like he will face any charges in Buffalo.

The woman passenger, who a witness said grabbed a teenage girl on Connecticut Street and tried to pull her into the vehicle, is still on the loose. At this point, police now are not sure there actually were four attempted abductions over the span of two weeks.

This all started almost three weeks ago on October 1st, when police said someone grabbed a 16-year-old girl on Connecticut Street. She escaped with the help of a woman nearby.

Then on October 7th, another report of an attempted kidnapping, this time on the city’s east side, but the same description of the suspect’s car, a white Lexus. Just four hours later, a third report came in. This time at the corner of Fillmore and Paderewski, also a white Lexus. The fourth report came October 9th, when a man, possibly in a black mask, followed students as they left South Park High School.
