Teen pleads guilty to murder, arson

Local teen changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on accounts of second degree murder and arson.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A local teen entered a guilty plea for murder and arson Wednesday morning after pleading not guilty in March.

David Meyers, 19, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and third degree arson — the highest possible charges he could face in trial — for setting fire to a home after murdering 52-year-old Brian Dombek. The Medical Examiner said Dombek died after being bludgeoned to death. Dombek’s dog also died from inhaling smoking.

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita credited the Buffalo Police Department, saying their investigation helped bring the case a success.

Meyers is scheduled for sentencing on December 2.
