Victim rescued from Salamanca fire dies at hospital

SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Salamanca City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 97 Kent Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Crews performed an aggressive interior attack and primary search upon arrival. Salamanca Fire Chief Nick Bocharski said the search was hampered by heavy fire but crews were able to locate one victim on the second floor.

The patient was taken by ambulance to Olean General Hospital where shortly after being admitted the patient passed away.

At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation by Salamanca Police and Fire Department with assistance from Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team.

The victims name is not being released at this time

The damage estimates for the property total $70,000.
