Victim identified in fatal Lockport crash

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) – A driver died in a crash on the Lockport Bypass Monday afternoon in Niagara County. A pickup truck and a large box truck crashed head on, killing Christopher Meden, the driver of the pickup.

Police say Meden, 24, crossed the yellow line for an unknown reason, when he collided with Daniel Shisler’s box truck.

The accident closed Route 93 in both directions, but NITTEC reported the route open again nearly four hours after the head on collision. Niagara County Hazmat responded due to spillage of oil and diesel fuel.

Police say Meden, a Lockport native, was pronounced dead on the scene, but Shisler, 29 of East Bethany, was sent to Erie County Medical Center for head, neck and chest injuries.

Niagara County Sherriff’s Office says the investigation will continue. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
