BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Kim and Terry Pegula now hold the key to the City of Buffalo. The owners of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres may be looking to add another gem to the city, a new stadium for the Bills.
The Pegulas said they don’t know where or when they’ll build a new stadium, but they made it clear that the Bills will get one.
As owners of the Sabres, they celebrated the grand opening of the rinks at the HARBORcenter on Thursday. Now they can focus on what’s next for their other team, the Bills.
The couple told the Associated Press that they need to be as competitive as they can within the league and a new stadium is part of that. The big question that remains is, what about the stadium at One Bills Drive?
Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster is a member of the Bills Stadium Committee. He spoke to News 4 about the future home of the team, “I think that those on the stadium committee have recognized from the beginning of the process that the desires of the owners in the process of the stadium are a critical thing.”
Dyster continued, “But I think that there’s also the case that you have an existing agreement and you put money into renovations at the Ralph means that we’re not in some sort of emergency situation where our backs are against the wall and we are trying to figure out what to do.”
The Pegulas will also become part of the New Stadium Working Group.
