GETZVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – The SPCA seized more than 70 living animals, and almost as many dead ones, at a kennel in Getzville on Friday. The Amherst building inspector said Maria Faricellie owns the Dodge Boarding Kennels.
The animals found inside the kennel ranged from dogs to cats, guinea pigs to rabbits, as well was birds. The SPCA said dead animals in the freezer were neatly bagged and labeled, some dating back to 2011. The DEC took six frogs and turtles.
Gina Browning of the SPCA says the nails on the chicken grew so long, they began to “corkscrew,” and chinchilla’s teeth had grown so long the animal couldn’t eat.
Browning said it could be a while before charges are filed because there are so many animals to process.
