UB women’s soccer heading to NCAA Tournament

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The UB women’s soccer program will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance Friday night, when the Bulls travel to Penn State.

The NCAA revealed its brackets this afternoon, with the Bulls gathered around a screen to watch. UB, the 15-seed, will take on the #2-seeded Nittany Lions.

“I guess we’re going big right off the bat, traveling to Penn State,” said first-year head coach Shawn Burke. “It’s what the girls, it’s what they came here for, to get to the NCAA Tournament. You’re in the tournament, there’s a reason everyone’s there.”

“It’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. Being a local kid, that’s what you dream about,” said senior Courtney Mann.

UB hits the field against Penn State Friday night at 7:30pm.
