LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A JV football coach and substitute teacher at Newfane Central School was charged with second degree rape Monday after a New York State Police Bureau investigation found he engaged in multiple sexual acts with a person under 15-years-old.
Police arrested Kyle T. Fiegel, 27, and charged him with two counts of second degree rape, one count of second degree criminal sexual act and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A source close to the school confirmed Fiegel was approved to substitute teach and coach football, although his name has since been scrubbed from Newfane’s website.
Superintendent of Newfane Central School Dr. Michael Wendt said he couldn’t comment on the case.
“Should information become available that we are able to share with the public we will do so,” Wendt said. “Know that we will cooperate with law enforcement and the safety of our children will continue to be a priority.”
State Police say they received information that Fiegel, of Akron, had sexual relations with the minor multiple times in the Town of Royalton.
Fiegel played football at John Carroll University as a defensive back while he majored in physical education.
He was arraigned in Town of Lockport Court and is in Niagara County Jail in lieu of $2500 bail. He is set to appear in Town of Royalton Court on Nov. 18.
