Cab driver calls in complaint, gets arrested

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – A cab driver was arrested early Friday morning, after reporting someone skipped out on a fare.

Erie County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call on Grand Island around 2 a.m. While investigating, deputies discovered the cab driver, 41-year-old Jimmie Workman, had a suspended driver’s license.

Workman’s license was suspended for allegedly failing to pay child support. He was also found to have outstanding warrants from the City of Buffalo. Workman was taken arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and then turned over to Buffalo Police.

Deputies searched the surrounding area to identify the suspected fare skipper. They did not locate that person, and the investigation continues. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
