The first change impacts the school’s nationally ranked football team. Canisius High School will be without their star fullback and linebacker for their playoff run. All-state linebacker Brad Zaffram will not be allowed to play for the remainder of the season for “violating school rules.” No other details were released by the school.
Also announced Monday, the school’s Dean of Students, Beck O’Conner, has left his position at the school. It’s unknown whether the situation with O’Conner and Zaffram are related or if the timing is coincidental.
School President Rev. Joseph Costantino, S.J. released this statement on the school’s Facebook page, “Monday was a difficult and challenging day for our Canisius High School family. Many feelings and emotions often rise up when an unanticipated change upsets the way things have been. Confusion, anger, frustration, and sadness may be among the emotions some of you are feeling. I share these with you. Yet even though some sentiments may seem hard to cope with, they present us with an opportunity for emotional growth.”
The Crusaders take on St. Francis Thursday night, in the Monsignor Martin Semifinals.
