Car strikes tree before plunging into Niagara River

NIAGARA FALLS, ON (WIVB)- The Niagara Parks Police Service is investigating a single car accident that occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say a vehicle was traveling along the Niagara Parkway when it left the roadway near Service Rd. #17 and struck a tree. The vehicle then entered the Niagara River.

The three female occupants were able to escape the vehicle and seek assistance at a nearby home.

The women were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released.
