CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Many drivers had to leave their cars behind when the snow began piling up during the arctic blast that hit South Buffalo and the southtowns. Many people are wondering where their vehicle ended up.
The Erie County website will detail where towed vehicles from the arctic blast are located. Many of the vehicles ended up at the Appletree Business Park.
Seven private contractors were paid by the county or Town of Cheektowaga to move stuck vehicles so they could plow roads. This was done at no charge to the car owner.
The database will go live at 9 a.m. Saturday on Erie.Gov, and will list the make, model, license plate and location of more than 500 vehicles that had to be towed.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said the county is doing the best that it can under the circumstances.
Poloncarz said, “What you’ll have to do is scroll through the list to see if your vehicle was towed by Erie County to one of these three locations. If your vehicle is not on the list, that means it has not been towed by an authorized towing company from Erie County. It may have been left on a state road, county road, city road, we don’t know that.”
