BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Snow in South Buffalo and the southtowns is being removed, and some of it is being placed near Broadway on Buffalo’s east side. Heavy equipment is carting ton after ton of lake effect snow to the Central Terminal.
Mounds of snow are piling up. The commissioner of public works said they chose the terminal because it wasn’t hit hard by the storm. DPW says it has moved about 7,000 loads of snow totalling about 70,000 tons.
Commissioner of Public Works Steve Stepniak said, “Most of the snow you’re seeing is coming from the residential streets, they load it with a payloader, come down Fillmore Avenue and release the snow we bulldoze on the back side and it’s been working out well for us.”
The city also has a second snow pile location on Tifft Street.
