Volunteers matched to stranded residents

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – This winter storm has been tough for many people, but some are using this chance to help out their neighborhoods. At the emergency center in West Seneca an effort is underway to match volunteers with people still stranded in their homes.

It’s being organized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church, but people of all faiths are coming together to help.

Pastor John Klatt said, “We’re talking about folks being in their homes and unable to get out.”

Abiding Savior Lutheran Church’s Pastor Klatt said, “With the changing conditions, we have no idea what may be developing, but the snow removal should be an important effort for the next several days at least.”

These are important numbers to remember. Volunteers are asked to call 677-3812. Those who need help with snow removal can call 677-3900.

Pastor Klatt says he can also use helpers to take calls and help coordinate the effort.
