Detroit’s Ford Field becomes temporary Bills haven

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Bills are “hosting” the New York Jets Monday night, at Ford Field. The game will be played in Detroit, but crews are working to make it look like a Bills home game. News 4’s Joe Melillo was with workers Sunday as they painted the field with Bills’ logos.

The NFL moved the Bills game to Detroit after an arctic blast pummeled Ralph Wilson Stadium, in Orchard Park, with snow last week.

Tickets for Buffalo’s rescheduled game in Detroit were gone within 20 minutes, Saturday. They went so quickly in part because they were free.

There were also three crowds of people clamoring for them; Bills, Jets and not so neutral Detroit fans. Detroit residents are split on who to root for, but some say Buffalo could have the home field advantage, still.

Regardless of who Detroit Fans are rooting for, they said they hope those stuck in Buffalo stay safe.

“Stay warm, guys, get out and be safe,” a Lions fan said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
