Health officials investigating the death of Garden Gate resident

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — New York health officials say they’re investigating the death of a 92-year-old nursing home patient who was evacuated following a snowstorm last week. garden gate2

Ruth Snyder was among more than 170 residents of the Garden Gate Health Center in the suburb of Cheektowaga who was moved Nov. 20 amid concerns that heavy snow had weakened the roof.

A Health Department spokeswoman says Wednesday that the investigation is being done because the death happened under unusual circumstances.
