BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- A case that spread fear in Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood is coming to a close.
16 year old Dionte Cooper was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping three women, by dragging them into alleys, all within a few blocks of Allen and Elmwood last summer.
Within hours of the last one, police managed to trace his location through a cell phone that he stole from one victim. His attorney said Dionte has a learning disability and was a runaway at the time.
Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case did not grant him youthful offender status and sentenced him to 21 years in prison followed by 19 years of post release supervision.
Erie County D-A Frank Sedita says cooper is old enough to be responsible for his actions.”His age is frightening. I mean he’s only sixteen and he’s already a serial rapist. If he wasn’t in jail what would we have to look forward to when he was 18, 19, 21. I mean God, he’s 16 and a serial rapist already. That’s blinking lights, “sociopath, sociopath, sociopath.”
Two of the three victims were in court today. One spoke about how this will haunt her and her family forever. Cooper signed a restraining order that prevents him sending any message to his three victims until at least the year 2043.
