Crews fix failing joint on I-290 bridge

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Emergency repairs were made to the I-290 eastbound bridge over Parker Boulevard on Sunday. At the end of last week, a failing joint caused pieces of concrete-like filler to fall near a sidewalk below.

Crews replaced the entire bridge joint on Sunday, according to spokesperson Susan Surdej, of the New York State Department of Transportation. Workers were out early Sunday morning and there all day.

There will be a $4 million rehab of the I-290 East and I-290 West bridges in 2016.
