Pedestrian killed in Cheektowaga

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police in Cheektowaga say a local man is dead after he was struck by a minivan Monday.

Cheektowaga police were reportedly quickly on the scene of an accident which happened around 5:30 on Genesee Street. They arrived to see a roughly 20-year-old male with serious injuries in the street, and they called for an expedited ambulance.

The pedestrian was transported to Erie County Medical Center just before 6:00. They worked on him for several hours, but he died of his injuries late Monday.

No charges have been filed, and police say the driver of the minivan is cooperating with an ongoing investigation.

Authorities left the scene before 11 p.m., where they were taking measurements and investigating.
