ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Bills running back Fred Jackson is the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year, for his off-field contributions to the community.
Jackson, who won the award for the second time, received the honor after practice with his teammates huddled around him.
“We have a lot of great guys on this team. A lot of guys that do a lot of different stuff in the community for a lot of people so anytime you get that award, it’s one that you’re definitely proud of,” said Jackson.
Each team selects a winner each season, with one overall NFL Man of the Year award handed out. The winner receives a $25,000 donation to the charity of his choice, while two other finalists receive $5,000 donations. The remaining 29 nominees receive $1,000 for his charity. Jackson picked Carly’s Club as his charity this season.
