Man admits pulling out pistol, running from police

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to weapon and drug charges Wednesday, in connection to an incident on East Delavan Avenue in March. Prosecutors said Jamal Young, 20, pulled out  a pistol when officers approached him.

Young didn’t open fire on officers, but did flee the scene. As officers pursued him, he slipped on the ice and fell into a snow bank. Police recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol from underneath him and 20 bags of marijuana.

Young faces a minimum of 3-and-a-half years and a maximum of 15 years in state prison when he is sentenced in February. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
