Teens admit attacking Canisius College student

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Five teenagers admit to attacking a Canisius College student in April, as she walked between buildings. Police used surveillance camera video from the college and the subway station to identify the teenagers.

Tazja Robinson, 16, Aarona Wardlaw, 16, Imia Atkinson, 15, and Carlise Harris, 15, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery. Ty’wuan McDuffie, 14, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and second-degree attempted robbery.

The teens knocked the first victim to the ground, and punched her and kicked her while stealing her cellphone. They tried to steal the shoes off her feet.

A second victim was chased by McDuffie and thrown to the ground, but McDuffie fled before he could steal property from her.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office said the apparent motive was not just theft, but also violence for the sake of violence itself.
