Batavia police investigating baby death

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — An investigation is underway in the case of a baby which died last weekend.

Police say they were called to the emergency room at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia to investigate the death of a six-month-old baby. Their initial investigation showed the baby was transported to the hospital by ambulance around 10 a.m. from a relative’s house. The relative called an ambulance because the baby was reported as unresponsive, but upon arrival at UCMC, the baby was pronounced dead.

Results of a following autopsy are pending. Detectives are working on the open case with involved officials and the family to determine the cause of death.
