Former fire department treasurer guilty of public fund theft

LE ROY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former treasurer of Le Roy’s fire department and Fireman’s Benevolent Association pleaded guilty to the theft of $46,000 to fuel a gambling addiction Tuesday.

Dennis Snow, 61, was arrested after an investigation found he siphoned money out of accounts from both organizations from 2007 to 2013. He was subjected to audits and investigations by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

“For years, Snow abused his position to divert public funds for his own use and forged records to cover his crimes,” DiNapoli said.

Snow pleaded guilty to fourth degree grand larceny and forgery in the second degree.

He’s scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 13 when he’s expected to be told how much he’ll have to repay. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
