BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — In a city known for neighbors helping one another, a messy accident blocking traffic doesn’t need to hold up a commute for very long. That was the case at least for an accident which caused minor injuries on the I-190 south Friday afternoon.

A witness on the scene said two cars were involved in an accident when one rear-ended the other. Both cars sustained extensive damage, blocking off I-190 south, but thanks to some neighborly help, traffic quickly resumed.

As traffic backed up, a nearby Department of Transportation crew came and helped to sweep up glass, and a driver with a truck helped tow the wrecked cars off to the side.

Other men helped use leaf blowers to reopen the road before authorities even made their way to the scene. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
