ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York State Thruway Authority Friday passed its budget, but has a shortfall of 36-million.
That shortfall is raising questions about how money will be made up. Acting Thruway Director Donna Luh said they’re not looking at hiking tolls quite yet.
They passed a 1.7 billion dollar budget for 2015, and that has caused some officials to expect up to a five percent increase in tolls in 2015.
“Watching our expenses, reducing operating and capital expenses, cost cutting…we’ve done a lot of that…and we’re going to continue in that direction,” Luh said.
Luh said she’ll do what she can to avoid expected toll hikes.
