Buffalo ball set to drop on New Year’s Eve

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A test run Monday proved the ball in Buffalo is set to drop come New Year’s Eve night.

The ball drop, said to be the second largest in the nation, has been a tradition for 27 years. The ball itself is 220 pounds and has 350 LED lights.

There were no signs of trouble when the ball was tested Monday. Tens of thousands will watch the ball drop Wednesday night in Roosevelt Plaza at Main and Huron Streets in downtown Buffalo.
