TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A dog who was neglected to the point of near death now has a new family.
Dori was adopted by Sally Schrett, who after seeing Dori’s story in the news decided she had to give the dog a better life.
The SPCA said they received support ranging from cards to donations from across the globe after news broke of Dori’s abuse. Her former owners are charged with animal cruelty for allegedly leaving the dog in the basement for so long it developed over four pounds of matted fur.
Barbara Frazier, SPCA director of behavior and training, said without the support from across the globe, Dori’s life wouldn’t have been saved.
Her former owners Ronald and Shelly Breier are expected back in court on Jan. 12.
