Parent in Jamestown arrested after police find kid in car

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — A mother and her brother in Jamestown are facing charges for allegedly leaving a child in a car for 17 minutes.

Jamestown police responded to the Tops Friendly Market on Washington Street on Dec. 24 just before 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call regarding a child who was left in a vehicle.

When they arrived to the parking lot, they interviewed people who said the 1-year-old had been in the car for some time.

An investigation found the child was in the car for at least 17 minutes unattended. They then arrested Elizabeth A. Yusczyk, 23, the mother of the child and John T. Yusczyk, 21, the child’s uncle, and put them in Jamestown City jail.

The two will be held until they can be arraigned. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
