Man dies when truck slams into Jamestown funeral home

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police closed off a street in Jamestown Monday morning when a truck slammed into the front of an occupied funeral home.

Police said the collision happened after two vehicles struck one another just ahead of the Funeral home at 805 West 3rd Street. After that collision, a truck continued on and hit the building.

A black super cab pickup truck which was being driven by 83-year-old Robert Woodmancy crashed into the Lind Funeral Home. Over 10 emergency response vehicles responded to the scene, where the four people were taken to the hospital.

The accident caused, one death, three injuries and a great deal of damage to the front of the building, but police said they couldn’t comment yet on how much damage there was.

Jamestown Police didn’t immediately comment on any injuries from the scene, but said hours later the man who drove the truck was pronounced as dead at WCA hospital in Jamestown.
