BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Despite cold weather, officials across western New York made at least 10 DWI arrests.
New York State Troopers couldn’t use a new trailer which was purchased for them for DWI checkpoint use due to the cold, but that didn’t stop them from making several arrests across Erie County. They say on normal patrols they made about five arrests.
Sheriff’s Deputies in Erie Niagara and Chautauqua county contributed about two arrests a piece.
Officials say about a dozen, but at least 10 arrests were made on a night which is known as one of the most prominent drinking nights of the year.
Police say this all could have been avoided if people would have planned ahead and called a taxi, or called a friend.
