Genesee County lifts travel advisory

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Blowing and drifting snow caused hazardous road conditions and poor visibility in Genesee County Thursday.  The sheriff’s office issued a travel advisory for the western portion of the county and lifted it shortly after 5:00 p.m.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect for Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming Counties until 1 p.m. Friday.  This shifting snow in combination with strong winds, gusting at times to over 40 mph, will combine to produce periods of sharply reduced visibility in blowing snow within the warning area. The lake snow will periodically weaken and reorganize later Thursday night.
