Luongo shuts out Sabres again

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Florida’s Roberto Luongo continued his strong play at First Niagara Center, shutting out the Sabres Friday night 2-0.

Luongo has four shutouts in his last five starts against the Sabres – three of those in Buffalo. He made 30 saves Friday night for his latest gem.

Buffalo struggled mightily in the first period, giving up Florida’s only two goals of the night. The first came off a Tyson Strachan turnover, with Brad Boyes delivering the first goal of the night.

Nick Bjugstad buried his 14th of the year later in the period off a rebound, for what turned out to be the final score.

The Sabres now begin a four-game road trip Saturday night against the Rangers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
